I’m a content strategist, information architect and usability enthusiast. I help people develop organisational structures for the information on their websites, then help them create, publish and maintain great content for their sites and social media streams. I am also an exploding star and a whole host of other things: Nova
In the past two years I’ve been teaching myself html, css and WordPress development. I’m still learning at a rapid rate so this blog will play the role of a learning journal allowing me to record and reflect on all my learning across IA, content strategy, web development and business in general. I hope others will find it useful too
Philosophy of sorts
I believe that businesses are about people. They are built on the hopes and dreams of their creators and operators. When I work with businesses it is those hopes and dreams I am fighting for.
People and businesses seek to be understood, to convey messages that are unambiguous. Effective communication isn’t easy. Today there are more tools than ever to help people make contact, however, the tools don’t help if the communication isn’t clear. Get it wrong and you’ll waste time, money and opportunities for real connection. Get it right and everything opens up.
My interests and passions centre around the drive to help people communicate authenticly, connect with each other, and achieve their hopes and dreams.
A few of the projects I’ve worked on
- Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highland’s and Island’s Enterprise’s Offshore Wind Scotland
- Children in Scotland’s Enquire website
- Learning and Teaching Scotland’s Online Service
